Mike King

Appears in:
Series 2, The Christmas Special, Series 3

Played By:
Reece Shearsmith

Quickie Bio:
A radio DJ at Sr. Mary of Bethlehem Hospital. He offers to let Les fill in for him (so he can go play cards with Mr. Best and Dr. Simon, who he's known since they were kids together). He also serves as the emcee at the local line-dancing competition (in Charlie's dream, at any rate). He blackmails Dr. Westley to get him to attach a new arm to his friend, Lance (he pulled the arm out of a bin by the hospital's incinerator).

Useless Trivia:
  • In The Christmas Special Reece supplies the voice for Mike King, but Jeremy stands in on-screen.
  • The "Go Johnny Go Go Go Go" card game was based on a few different things. One was a couple of guys Jeremy sat near on a trip back from Leeds. One kept calling the other "Young Man", and the "Young Man" kept calling the other guy "Sir" -- and after a while it got really annoying. The other inspiration is Jeremy's childhood, when his older brother would try to teach him card games that he knew Jeremy was too young to understand with their wildly complicated rules.

    Quickie Bio:
A colleague of Dr. Fish. Gives Mr. Bamford a second opinion on his test results (which apparently say that he's terminal). Like Dr. Fish, prefers breaking bad news to patients by drawing parallels with popular movies. He also reluctantly performs Lance's arm-attachment surgery.
